Division representatives serve as vital links between their division’s staff and the broader council. Appointed by division leadership, they advocate for staff interests, share updates, and promote open communication across the university. Their roles may include:
Gathering and sharing feedback from staff within their division
Communicating council initiatives and updates
Participating in council meetings and working groups
Supporting staff engagement and recognition efforts
Collaborating on university-wide projects and initiatives
Responsibilities
Staff Council members serve as active leaders within their divisions. They are expected to attend monthly Council meetings, participate in standing committees, and communicate Council updates to their constituents. Members also play a key role in elevating staff voices by bringing forward issues and concerns from their divisions for Council discussion.
Primary Members
Attend monthly Staff Council meetings and actively contribute to at least one standing committee.
Consistent attendance is required. If unable to attend, notify your designated Membership Committee contact in advance and ensure your Alternate Member is fully briefed and prepared to participate in your place.
Serve as a communication liaison by sharing Staff Council updates with your division’s communications contact and relaying constituent feedback, concerns, or suggestions back to the Council.
Maintain regular and effective communication with your Alternate Member(s) to ensure continuity and representation.
Alternate Members
Attend meetings when the Primary cannot.
Engage in discussions and committee work.
Serve as a voting member when officially substituting for a Primary
