Staff Council is a collaborative forum where employees have a voice in shaping our workplace culture, policies, and initiatives. Participation is open to all staff, and there are multiple ways to get involved.
Ways to Get Involved
The Participate section is your starting point for engaging with Staff Council. Here you’ll find clear pathways to get involved, stay informed about meetings, and make your voice heard. Your participation helps ensure that staff perspectives are reflected in decisions that affect our community.
1. Serve as a Representative
Represent your department or unit, bring forward staff concerns, and participate directly in council discussions and decisions. Representatives typically serve two‑year terms.
Staff Council representatives:- Attend monthly Council meetings
- Share updates with their division
- Bring forward themes and feedback from staff
- Participate in at least one standing committee
Eligibility
To serve as a Staff Council representative, individuals must:
- Be a full‑time employee of Emory University
- Be supported by their school or division leadership
- Be able to commit time to meetings and committee work
Specific eligibility and representation details are determined by division.
Selection & Timeline
- Representative appointments are typically coordinated prior to the start of the academic year
- Terms begin in September
- Openings may occur mid‑term due to role changes or vacancies
2. Volunteer with a Committee
Staff who are not representatives may have opportunities to support specific initiatives or activities led by Council committees, depending on needs and availability.

3. Submit Feedback
